Obituary for Doreen Anne Schmidt (Huget)

It is with broken hearts that we announce Mom’s passing on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the age of 80 years. Mom was born on November 16, 1938 in Red Deer, Alberta, to Gordon and Elsie Huget. She was the oldest of four children. Mom grew up in Red Deer, where she met and married the love of her life, our dad, Jozsef Schmidt in 1960. They made their home in Red Deer; where they had three children and also started the Machine Shop Business. Mom was a true homemaker in every sense of the word. From learning how to make all Dad’s favourite Hungarian dishes, to looking after us three kids, and keeping an immaculate home. Mom also worked alongside Dad at the shop, doing the bookkeeping for their business for many years, and looking after her parents, in their later years. Mom was a wonderful mother, amazing Nana and Great Nana. Her family was her life, sharing a special bond with her grandchildren; she was always so proud of them and their accomplishments. We will always remember her “way with words”, her strong character and how deeply she loved her family. Mom will be sadly remembered by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Joe; her daughter, Becky (Rick); her sons, Joe (Rhonda) and Darcie (Sara); her grandchildren, Jordan, Sunny, Josh, Randi, Rylie, Sophie and Brady and her great grandchildren, Jaxon and Kallan. She will also be missed by her siblings, Dale (June) and Sonny (Ava). At Mom’s request, no Funeral Service will be held. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040 or 1.800.481.7421.
