It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the loss of a great man, spouse,
father, grandfather, friend and mentor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Barry
passed away in the comfort of the Red Deer Hospice on July 23, 2019 at the age of 62.

Barry was born in Big River, Saskatchewan. He spent his youth there, rebel rousing and being a
nuisance. He left when he was still in his teens for the draw of the oil patch. He spent some
time in Fort McMurray and Edmonton before finding his home in Red Deer where he made his
mark in the oilfield and was still quite the rebel. Barry met Barb in 1977 and married her on
April 20, 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mitchell soon came along on February 20, 1979 and they
rounded out their family with Roxanne, born May 25, 1982.

Barry worked in the oilfield for his entire career. The early years were spent in the field, mostly
on drilling rigs, working his way up to Push. Then he moved on to consulting, forming his own
consulting company at age 22. He continued to expand and branch out with various companies.
Barry had many, many contacts and associates throughout Alberta and beyond. Everyone,
wherever you went, either knew him personally or had heard of him. He spent the recent years
working in the office in Calgary.

Barry loved to take the family camping and fishing. He owned several motor homes and boats
over the years and had cottages and a vacation home. This was a huge part of his life. Barry was
constantly on the go, ready at the drop of the hat, to take off on any new adventure no matter
where it took him and he thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

Barry had a great affection for his grandchildren. His world revolved around his family but his
friends were extremely important to him too. Everyone loved him, children were drawn to him
and he absolutely loved having a houseful of kids. Barry loved to entertain and was always
surrounded by people. He was known as a second father to many. His charismatic personality
and his charm was what drew people to him. Barry was generous to a fault and helped many
people along the way, giving whatever he had, his time, his money, his support and advice,
whatever was needed.

Barry leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years, Barb, his son Mitchell Ahearn, his daughter
Roxanne (Ahearn) Trottier and son-in-law Byron Trottier, grandchildren Marley Ahearn,
Emerson Ziegler and Finn Trottier, sisters Delaine (Geoff) Hazlett, Joan (Hugh) Meyers, Lorna
Park (Richard), brothers Perry Ahearn, Matthew Kapustinky, chosen family Phil Crowe (Brandy),
Ireland, True and Emerald, in-laws Joyce Ahearn, Karen Paquette (Phil), Patty Laiss (Colin), Alan
King (Terry), many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and close friends.

Barry was predeceased by his mother Velda Ahearn and his father Joseph Ahearn, his brother
Wayne Ahearn, infant brother Dale Ahearn, in-laws Lloyd and Florence King and brother-in-law
Darren King.

The loss of our dear Bear will leave a huge hole in all our lives. We will remember the smile, the
twinkle in your eye, the laughter, the stories and the fun times and we will hold these
memories in our hearts forever.
Rest in Peace, dear Barry, the Angels have come to take you home.
