Obituary for John Mosse "Jack" Younge

Mr. John Mosse ‘Jack’ Younge passed away, following a brief illness, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at the age of 74 years. Jack was born on July 27, 1944 to Charlotte and George Harrison ‘Peter’ Younge in the Virden District Hospital, at Virden, Manitoba. Jack was Charlotte and Peter’s fifth child and grew up on the family farm at NE 19-10-27 in the Springvale District. He attended Springvale School for a short time and later helped his dad on the farm, before working at Wallace Municipal Telephones, until it became MTS in 1970. Jack married Patricia Holmes of Moosomin, Saskatchewan in 1967, and they moved to Alberta in the early 1970’s. Their marriage didn’t last and Jack continued living many of his years as a bachelor. Upon making his home in Red Deer, Jack became employed by Flint Rig Co., where he drove heavy equipment and this work led to a lifelong career in the Oilfields. Eventually, he formed his own business called Younge’s Inspection, where he worked independently as a consultant. There were many things that Jack enjoyed: spending time with friends, a strong drink of his choice, riding his Harley, driving his Lincoln and his Ford truck, and reminiscing about the past. In his last year, one of the things he missed the most was being able to jump into his truck and drive. Jack will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by his sister, his brothers, his in-laws, his cousins, his nieces and nephews and dear friends. Jack was predeceased by his parents, a sister and two brothers-in-law. Please join the family for a small gathering to Celebrate Jack’s Life at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, 140 Petrolia Drive, Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, July 28, 2019 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Cremation was entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Jack’s honor may be made directly to the Virden Health Centre, 480 King Street East, Virden, Manitoba, R0M 2C0.
