Obituary for Della Stout (Christiansen)
Della (Christiansen) Stout
Della was born in High River, Alberta on February 21, 1921 (98yrs old), and lived on a farm at Brant, Alberta. Until 1930 when her family moved to High River. In 1940 she married Ross Stout and they lived in Calgary where Ross had a trucking and construction business. Two sons Ronnie and Dennis were born there. In 1951 they bought an acreage at Aldersyde where Ross ran a feed lot. There were always lots of parties, swimming in the river in the summer, and skating in the winter. Daughter Cindy was born in 1959. In 1980, the farm was sold and Ross and Della retired to the mountains by Kaslo on the Kootenay Lake. They spent a lot of time boating, fishing and gardening which Della loved. It was a great family gathering place. Nothing meant more to Della than her family.
In 1984 Ross and Della bought a little house in Redcliff to be closer to family. They stayed in this area until 2013 when Della moved to Sylvan Lake to be close to Cindy and family.
Della is predeceased by her parents Wildia and Harry Christiansen, husband Ross (2004), son Ronald(2002) great grandson Morgan(2000), sister Nellie (2016), and two brothers, Billy who passed away in 1928 and Joe in 1930.
Della is survived by her son Dennis Wayne Stout of Red Deer, daughter Cindy Lee Rushton (Robert), Sylvan Lake and sister Helen Adams of High River.
Della will be lovingly remembered by her 9 grandchildren; Didier (Josephine) Stout, Nadine (Darren) moerman, Ben (Carla) Crowe, Christie Crowe, Vanessa Stout (Izzy), Jeremy (Frances) Rushton, Kayley (Greg) Zaugg, Troy Rushton and Celena (Justan) Mccoy.
She also has 19 great grandchildren that all love her so very much.
Della served in the church and community all her life. She spent countless hours doing genealogy and linking family lines. She was an accomplished sewer, winning many awards for her quilts at the Medicine Hat Stampede. Della loved to prepare meals and bake, and was always taking a meal to the needy or helping in any way possible.
She loved to read but needed to make sure she wasn’t wasting her time. She had to be learning something.
She had a sharp mind and a great sense of humour right to the end of her life.
Della always loved the gospel and tried to live it as best as she could and has always found great happiness in serving her church and her family.
Her grandchildren have said that “grandma had a gift to see the best in everyone and has given us the gift of her unconditional, unwavering acceptance and love.
She taught us all that family comes first. "
Della passed away on July 19/2019 at her home in Bethany Sylvan Lake. The family wishes to thank Bethany for the exceptional and compassionate care Della received. She truly felt it was her home
