It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Mrs. Vera Edgeworth on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at the age of 87 years. Vera was born and raised in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, and was raised on the family farm, until she married Orval Edgeworth. She worked at Manitoba School until moving to Red Deer in 1976; where she then worked at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre for numerous years, until her retirement. Vera and Orval enjoyed travelling in their motor home across Western Canada and the United States. She also enjoyed gardening, bingo, bocce ball, and especially her dice game. She loved making lots of cabbage rolls and perogies for her family, while spending many holidays together. She was an amazing dancer, and loved playing the piano. Vera loved her dogs, and she was a member of the Golden Circle. Vera will be lovingly remembered by her five children, Lynn (El), Les (Terry), Diane (Rodney), Barb (Ron) and David (Brenda); as well as her ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, and her brother, Michael (Joanne). She was predeceased by her husband, Orval; her parents, Fred and Nellie Ukno; a sister, Lena, and a brother, Tony. A Celebration of Vera’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta, on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Vera’s honor may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta at www.alzheimer.ca/en/ab.
