Obituary for Jan "John" Tensen

1928 – 2019
Mr. Jan ‘John’ Tensen, of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Friday, February 15, 2019 at the age of 90 years. John was born in Zwolle, the Netherlands, the tenth of thirteen children, of Willem and Pietje Tensen. He grew up during the Occupation of Holland, and immigrated to Canada in 1953. John married Frances Middelman on August 10, 1962. They moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan; where John attended the Reform Bible Institute, and received his diploma in Missions. During their stay, their first son, W. Charles was born in 1964. After finishing school, they moved back to Canada and served several congregations in British Columbia, Ontario, and Alberta. In 1967, son, P. John was adopted. John and Frances settled in Red Deer, Alberta in 1972, where John retired from Ministry and worked for Alberta Hospital (Deer Home), and then Alberta Government Telephones, until his retirement in 1992. John will be lovingly remembered by his son Charles and his wife Charlotte and their daughter, Shelbey of Red Deer, Alberta and his son, John and wife, Michelle Tensen of Leduc, Alberta.
