Metro spent 35 years working at the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission eventually becoming both an Assistant Manager and Manager. He retired in 1991. As a teenager Metro was avidly involved in hockey, baseball and high school curling. He spent many years as a referee with Flin Flon Minor Hockey and the Western Canada Hockey League. In later years his interests became the sports of curling and golf – spending most of his summer mornings at the Phantom Lake Golf Course with his old friend Red and his winter evenings curling and making ice at the Ross Lake Curling Club. In 2010 Metro and Marion left Flin Flon and moved to Red Deer where they could be closer to their grandchildren.
