It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Ms. Edelgard Glasbrenner of Red Deer, Alberta on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the age of 85 years. Edelgard was born in West Germany on July 30, 1933. She moved to Canada with her family in 1954. Edelgard was a true inspiration to all who knew her. She was an amazing woman, and had such an enthusiastic zest for life. She loved her dogs and her forever garden. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, even though she hated the cold. Edelgard will lovingly be remembered by sons, Bernd (Lorraine), Gilbert (Lorraine), and her daughter, Karen (Barry), seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her brother, Horst Glasbrenner, who shared her birthday; born exactly thirteen years later. Edelgard was predeceased by her husband, Karl Ilk on November 8, 1979, parents Albert and Caroline Glasbrenner. A Celebration of Edelgard’s Life will be announced at a later date.
