Obituary for Glen Lawrence Halsey

Glen Lawrence Halsey
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Glen Lawrence Halsey of Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the age of 47 years. Glen was born on June 27, 1971 in Lanigan, Saskatchewan, he was the youngest son of Estol and Agnes Halsey and youngest brother to Kevin, Earl and Don. In 1974, Glen’s family moved to Sorrento, British Columbia where he lived until graduating from Salmon Arm Senior Secondary School in 1989. Immediately following High School, he attended Aldersgate College in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. In 1991, he felt God calling him to join Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and he spent the next few years traveling as a missionary to various countries, including the Philippines and Russia. He held leadership positions and also attended a Worship School while in YWAM. It was during his time at YWAM Maui that Glen met his future wife, Keri. They would date during this time but it wasn’t until 1995 that they reconnected. Glen and Keri were married on December 2, 1995 in Dinuba, California. They then moved to Salmon Arm, British Columbia where Glen worked for his father for one year, and then took a position as a Youth Pastor and led worship in Vernon, British Columbia. In 1998, Glen and Keri moved to Red Deer, Alberta to join some of his brothers who had settled in the Red Deer/Sylvan Lake Area. He worked for his brother, Kevin as a plumber while studying power engineering, and in February 2001 he joined Union Carbide which shortly thereafter merged with Dow Chemical, where Glen was a process operator until his passing. In 2002, Glen and Keri welcomed their daughter, Karis. In 2004, they welcomed their only son, Luke. In 2007, they welcomed another daughter, Anna. In 2012, Glen and Keri traveled to China to adopt their youngest daughter, Kailani and their family was then complete. Glen had a strong relationship with his Lord Jesus Christ and he loved worship music. As a gifted musician and singer, he used his talents as a worship leader over the years. Because of his love for the Lord, he had been involved in his church and many activities surrounding it. Glen really enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, which led him to many memorable trips with his brothers, father, father-in-law and son, Luke to various lakes and to the West Coast. Glen developed an interest in triathlons and for the past ten years he competed at various levels, with his greatest accomplishment being the Half Iron Man in Penticton, British Columbia, which was quite astounding considering that he didn’t learn how to swim until his 30’s. Glen was an amazing husband and loving father to his children. He was a great provider, kind and generous and would do anything for his family. Glen loved spending time with Keri and their kids and they will have many great memories of family vacations and events to cherish. He was very close to his brothers, their families and his parents, and they would get together whenever they could. He will be greatly missed and always remembered. A Celebration of Glen’s Life will be held at CrossRoads Church, 38105 Range Road 275, Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. If you are unable to attend, you can view on Livestream at www.crossroadschurch.ca under media. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
