Obituary for Richard Karl "Dick" Hoffman

Richard Karl "Dick" Hoffman
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Richard Karl ‘Dick’ Hoffman in Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, July 30, 2018 at the age of 68 years. Richard was born in Hanna, Alberta on March 24, 1950, to Karl and Georgina Hoffman. Richard was the eldest son of five children. He lived his early years on the family farm, near Watts, Alberta. Richard attended Hanna for schooling and graduated from J.C. High School with a Matric Diploma. Growing up, Richard and his brother, Fred were well trained in hunting and fishing by their dad. His fascination with guns continued throughout his late teens, and then he joined the Sea Cadets. In the late 1960’s, Richard received the Duke of Edinburgh Award for Long Gun Marksmanship. He then moved from Hanna to Calgary. In April 1974, Richard married Shirley Graden and moved from Calgary to Penticton. Richard briefly went back to Hanna before he moved and settled in Red Deer. In May of 1985, they welcomed their son, Kyle Richard and the following year in November of 1986, they welcomed their daughter, Krystal Marie. Richard continued his work as a machinist. His love and dedication made him a Master at his trade. A devoted father and grandfather, his children and grandchildren were the light of his life. Richard will be lovingly remembered by his son, Kyle (Courtney) Hoffman of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; his daughter, Krystal (Joel) Carrigan of Penhold, Alberta. He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Summer, Hailey, Maysen and Kaydence; his brother, Fritz (Beverly) Hoffman of Hanna, Alberta; and his sisters, Coreen (Doug) Smith of Edmonton, Alberta and Debi (Dutch) Nill of Red Deer, Alberta; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Alberta and British Columbia. Richard was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Dawna. A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be held at a later date. If desired, Memorial Donations in Richard’s honour may be made directly to the S.P.C.A. at cahumane.com/support/make-a-donation.
