Mr. Gerald Elzer 'Gerry' Forsell of Lacombe, Alberta, passed away at Lacombe on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the age of 75 years. Gerry was born on January 10, 1943 at Eckville, Alberta, to Elzer and Dorothy Forsell. Growing up, Gerry loved cars, baseball, Country Music and any way to enjoy a laugh. Upon Graduation, Gerry joined the RCAF; which took him across Canada and Overseas. When Gerry returned, he lived in Central Alberta, until moving to Edmonton. In 2015, he retired to Lacombe until his passing. Gerry was the proud father of Rhonda (Derek) Brandon, Jody (Mark) Hoogwerf, Robert (Chris) Giles and son-in-law, Jeff Lynn. Papa was even more proud of his eight grandchildren, Daelyn, Ryan, Shayna, Jarrett, Eric, Victoria, Johnathan and Thys; and two great granddaughters, Aurora and Ella. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters, Pat Lightbown of Red Deer, Carol Anne Craig of Delburne, Alberta and Susan (Gabe) Lavay of Gull Lake, Alberta. Gerry was predeceased by his parents, Elzer and Dorothy, Lloyd French, wife, Darlene, brothers-in-law, Ron Craig and Dave Lightbown, and nephews, Leslie Lightbown and Brad Craig. Relatives and friends are invited to come and pay their respects at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 ā€“ 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Gerry's Life will be held at the Eckville Community Centre, 5305 - 52 Street, Eckville, Alberta on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend Sandra Franklin-Law officiating. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Gerry's honor may be made directly to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 79, 5138 - 49 Street, Lacombe, Alberta, T4L 1J2 or to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Foundation at www. rdrhfoundation.com.
