Obituary for Norman Edward "Norm" Nelson

Norman Edward "Norm" Nelson
NELSON, Norman
1936 – 2017
Mr. Norman ‘Norm’ Edward Nelson of Blackfalds, Alberta, passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly, while listening to his radio at his home, on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the age of 80 years. Norm was born on November 20, 1936 at Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. He worked as an Automobile Mechanic for many years. He was well respected and loved by all who knew him. Norm was a devoted family man and would step up to take care of extended family members who needed a helping hand. His passions were his wife and children; and he loved vegetable gardening, bicycling, bird watching, and television watching, including the old classic movies, starring Humphrey Bogart; also including westerns, especially with Clint Eastwood, and the daily news broadcasts. He would close each day by going to bed and listening to his radio. Norm will be lovingly remembered by his five daughters, Kim (Bernie) Jensen, Celina Saunders, Melissa (Ted) Sullivan, Corinne (Rick) Nelson and Angela (James) Fountain; grandchildren, Natasha (Evan), Tara (Ron), Adam, Jocelyn, Brent (Jessica), Amy, Erin (Duncan), Noah, Shane, Emily, and Mikaela; and great grandchildren, Wade, Riley, Jamie, Colin, Jorden, Rayna, Aubree, Legatha, Hailla and Max. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters, Viola Knight and Shirley Lalonde; and his mother-in-law, Elmire Fiddler and his brothers and sisters-in-law. Norman was predeceased by his parents, Lars and Ann Nelson, his wife, Doris; two children, Nicole and Jocelyn; and his father-in-law, Harris Fiddler. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Norm’s honor may be made directly to the Kidney Foundation of Canada at www.kidney.ca. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the caring assistance from the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Dialysis Team and the Lacombe Connex Transportation Company for taking Dad to and from his dialysis treatments.
