Obituary for Debra Sharon Reid (Schmidt)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Debra Sharon Reid at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre in Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, April 6, 2018 at the age of 61 years. Debra was born in Moosomin, Saskatchewan on December 30, 1956. She was raised on the Red Jacket family farm and took her schooling in Moosomin. In 1976, Debra moved to Regina for work and there she met the love of the life, Darcy Reid. The couple married in 1977 and shortly after, their daughter Kimberly was born. They moved to Red Deer in 1978 and had their second daughter Melissa in 1979. Anyone who knew Debra knew her passion was for cooking. She spent many years working at Glenn’s Restaurant as the kitchen manager before her retirement. Debra returned to Saskathewan to be closer to family and opened Sweet Pea’s Restaurant in March of 2008. After working for eight wonderful years, Debra finally sold Sweet Pea’s in February of 2016 and moved back to Red Deer to retire. Debra will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 40 years, Darcy Reid; her daughters, Kimberly Reid and Melissa Morris; grandchildren, Dakota Brown, Kaylie Andersen and Keirden Morris; her brother, Leonard (Penny) Schmidt of Stony Plain, Alberta; sisters, Dianne (Ron) Levielle of Chestermere, Alberta, Carol (Herb) Restau of Wapella, Saskatchewan and Shari (Ralph) Venas of Moosomin, Saskatchewan as wll as many nieces and nephews. Debra was predeceased by her parents, Kurt and Linda Schmidt, brother, Lawrence Schmidt; son-in-law, Kyle Morris, grandson, Kian Morris; her mother-in-law and her father-in-law, as well as her brothers-in-law. A Celebration of Debra’s Life will be held at the West Park Church Of The Nazarene, 3920 – 57 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations may be made in Debra’s honor directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation at www.albertacancer.ca.
