The Reverend Andrew 'Drew' Stewart Burnand, born July 1, 1958, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the age of 59 years. Drew was a native Albertan who studied religious studies at the University of Calgary and graduated with a Masters of Divinity Degree from Knox College, Toronto. Drew served as a minister in The Presbyterian Church in Canada for over thirty years in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Eckville and Knox Presbyterian Church, Red Deer. He will be greatly missed by his family and dear friends. He will be remembered for his quick wit, humour and creative spirit. Drew is survived by his father, Bernard Burnand, his daughter, Rebecca and her mother, Karen; brother, Peter (Dianne); sister, Heather (Steve) Walton; and brother-in-law, Michael Richardson. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Eloise 'Lisa' Richardson and his mother, Jean. A Funeral Service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church, 1009 - 15 Avenue SW, Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend John Dowds officiating. The family wishes to thank the dedicated and loving medical staff at the Southwood Hospice and the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Drew's honour may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com or to a charity of one’s choice.
