Obituary for Phyllis Leslie Hanson (Adams)

On September 11, 2016, at the age of 91 years 1 month, Phyllis Hanson peacefully passed away in Stettler Hospital.

Phyllis was the eldest child of Herb and Mirl Adams, she was born August 11, 1925 in Fleming Saskatchewan. She studied nursing at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina before marrying Joseph Hanson. She focused her life on being a farm wife and mother to twelve children before returning to the healthcare field in her forties as a Nurse's Aide. She was active in the community of Moosomin, Saskatchewan volunteering with the St. Mary's CWL, New Hastings and as a Board Member of the Moose Mountain Trail District Home Care.

In 1997 Phyllis and Joe moved to St. Albert, Alberta, where she continued to be a loving and involved grandmother and volunteered at the SHABA bookstore. In 2015, she moved to the Red Deer area.

Phyllis was remarkable and will be remembered for her passion for gardening and reading, her skill at knitting and sewing, and love of card playing, antiques and auctions. She was a tremendously compassionate loving woman with a zest for life, a phenomenal memory for dates and historical events,and a love of traveling.

She is predeceased by her loving husband Joe Hanson and her parents.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her sister Joyce Barnes; son Douglas (Marlene); daughters Margaret (Bryan), Teresa, Kathi (John), Evelyn (Bob), Sharan, Gayle (Bill), Vaila (Lloyd), Carol, Yvonne, Maureen, Jacqui; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Steve (Kay), Benny (Leonie), sister-in-law Isabelle (Norm); many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service/celebration of life will be held October1, 2016 at Braeside Presbyterian Church in St. Albert at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully request a donation to the charity of your choice.
