It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Marguaritte Powers ‘Barb’ of Eckville, Alberta on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the age of 53 years. Barb was born on July 16, 1963 at Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. She lived in various locations in Southern Alberta, but was primarily raised in Fort Macleod, Alberta. After High School, Barb trained as a flight attendant and travel agent. She then got a job waitressing in Calgary, Alberta; where she met her husband, James Powers. Their first son, Luke was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1987, and their second son, Mark was born in Strathmore, Alberta in 1991. The family moved to Eckville, Alberta in 1996; where Barb worked as a realtor for Kootuk Realty for a few years; before helping her husband with their self established business “Powers Enterprises” in 2003. Barb supervised many community dinners and especially loved the Christmas Eve dinners she put on, that were open to the entire community. She welcomed the arrival of her first grandchild, Adam Brozny on May 13, 2009, son of Adam Powers and Tya Brozny. She was a huge part in Adams life, and enjoyed watching him grow and mature. She was blessed with a second grandson, William James Mathew Powers, July 28, 2015, son of Luke Powers and Danni Harris. Barb will be lovingly remembered by her best friend and partner, James Powers of Eckville; Barb’s children, Luke Mathew Powers (Dani) of Eckville, and Mark James Powers (Kendra) of Edmonton, Alberta; and grandchildren, Adam and William. She will also be lovingly remembered by her mother, Florence Marie Stelfox, and a sister, Janette Marie Stelfox, both of Eckville. Barb was predeceased by her father, Roy Stelfox and a brother, Richard Stelfox. A Private Celebration of Barb’s Life will be held at a later date.
