Obituary for Lay Siek Chou

CHOU, Lay Siek
1943 – 2015

Lay Siek Chou passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at the Red Deer Hospice, on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the age of 71 years. Lay was sponsored by her son Hov, and came to Red Deer in 1995. She was shy, but a kind and loving person, and made friends easily. Her family was her life, and the center of her world. Although she loved her life in Canada, her heart remained in Cambodia. Lay will be deeply missed by her two sons; Ma Eng Hov and his wife Hong, and their children: Dalice, Tamara and Andrew, all of Red Deer, Alberta and Ma Eng Lay and his wife Sothy, and their children: Sovicha, Sovipho, Sovithea and Soviphea, all of Cambodia. She will also be sadly missed by her brother, Howe of Cambodia, and her sister-in-law, Lor Oun of Calgary, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ma Keam Mouy (1978), during Communist Times in Khmer Rouge. A Public Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 1:15 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Lay’s honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice at www.reddeerhospice.com or to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca.
