Obituary for April Dianne Gunderson

It is with great regret and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful daughter, sister, aunty and friend, April Dianne Gunderson at the Innisfail Hospital, Innisfail, Alberta on Friday, July 25, 2014. April was taken from us far too early at the age of 27 years. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. April leaves behind her precious daughter, Brooke Rae-Anne Stout who has always been the most important part of April’s life. She also leaves behind her boyfriend, Jarrad Sloan, mom, Darla Briem, dad, Garry Gunderson, sisters, Michelle (Marvin) Lindsey and Sheena (Gerard) Dykstra, stepdad, Rich Bahuaud, stepsister, Kelsey Bahuaud, stepbrother, Nic Bahuaud, avi, Herb Briem, grandmother, Rachel Gunderson and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her day home children. April was predeceased by her amma, Anna Briem and grandfather, Lloyd Gunderson. April came into the world as a feisty little girl in the Red Deer Hospital on August 12, 1986…but of course…one day late…this would soon become a trend. She was a little rebel right from day one, throughout her youth and until the very end. We all loved her for it. April moved to the Bluffton Area with her family in 1993, where she attended the Bluffton School and then the High School in Rimbey. It was in Rimbey that April met Jason Stout. Together, they brought into the world their darling daughter, Brooke on August 4, 2004. Brooke became her life, her pride and her joy. April loved watching Brooke dance and play ball. She was very proud of her and loved her very much. In 2006, April moved with her family to Red Deer. She opened a day home in Red Deer and eventually moved to Innisfail, where she continued to operate her day home until her passing. For the past several years, April operated this day home and grew close to her little “Gang”. April was great with kids and the kids loved her. She recently was talking about having them all over for a sleep over in the backyard this summer. She planned on showing a movie outside and treat the kids to popcorn and fun. This is typical of April’s heart. April believed in living life to the fullest. She had a heart of gold and was there for anyone who needed her. April had a love for animals, especially dogs. She ALWAYS wanted to have a BIG dog. Echo and Scooby will miss her tremendously. April loved camping and rafting and did both as much as she could. April loved spending time with her friends. She collected dragons and loved plants. April was a tough girl. Her life was full of challenges. Unfortunately, this last challenge was too much for her. Last summer, April had wings tattooed on her back. She said it was a symbol that she was free, her own person. April – today and forever, your wings will take you to peace and keep you free of pain. You are already greatly missed. We love you. We will keep you in our hearts and will think of you always. Relatives and friends are invited to come and pay their respects at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. A Celebration of April’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Please dress casual as April would want it that way.
